Topics will include impacts of climate change on archives or, conversely, the environmental impacts of our own work on our communities. How is climate change influencing and altering our staffing, institutions, collections, and work overall? Featuring Eira Tansey of Memory Rising. Upcoming Virtual Workshop: Communicating Your Collection: Making Short Video Content for Outreach and Education (two-day workshop) Your archives are ready for their closeup! This two-day workshop will introduce the whys and how-tos of using Instagram to create short educational videos about your collection using your smartphone. Allie Alvis (aka @book_historia) will walk you through the rationale behind using short video as a communication tool, how to select an object and film it, how to edit that video in the Instagram interface, how to write and perform voiceover, and how to post your finished product. Allie will also cover posting your video to other platforms including TikTok, and how "the algorithm" can be both a friend and enemy. This workshop will be recorded. Visit Webinars and Workshops for details and registration. The Scholarship Committee is currently accepting applications for its 2025-2026 Graduate School Archival Education Scholarship. Graduate students living or attending school in the MARAC region can apply for a one-time $1000 award to be awarded for the spring 2026 semester, which will be paid directly to the educational institution. The award also includes a $30 student-level MARAC membership for a total award value of $1,030. Visit Graduate School Scholarship for details and application procedures. The Fall 2025 (Vol. 54, No. 4) issue of the Mid-Atlantic Archivist is now available! Discover how Marshall University Special Collections tackled the challenges of digitizing thousands of issues of a student newspaper. Explore how rethinking description and access points for a music collection at the University of Pittsburgh increased discoverability. Other highlights include a look at the upcoming Symposium on sustainability and archives, details of a grant funded project to digitize television footage, and a book review of Collection Thinking Within and Without Libraries, Archives and Museums.
