Ali ZawoyrskiFounded in 1972, MARAC is a vibrant, volunteer-run organization welcoming archivists who live and work in the mid-Atlantic region, which includes Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

MARAC is focused on our members' needs and interests. We strive to provide MARAC members affordable archival education, encourage diversity and inclusion in the profession, foster collegiality among archivists, and support archival advocacy throughout the mid-Atlantic region. The Fall 2024 (Vol. 53, No. 4) issue of the Mid-Atlantic Archivist is now available! Discover how the August Wilson Archive at the University of Pittsburgh Library System connects with the broader community. Read about plans for the David C. Driskell Center to establish an institutional archive. Learn about useful traits for solo archivists and go behind-the-scenes of planning a MARAC conference.


 Nominate yourself or a colleague for a MARAC leadership position!

Serving in a MARAC office or position can provide opportunities to learn how MARAC operates, network with others in the archival profession, and develop new skills. From new professionals to more experienced ones, MARAC offers us—the members—the chance to lead and participate in a variety of ways.

The following offices are up for election in 2025: Chair-elect, Secretary, Meetings Coordinator, Awards Committee Chair, Member-at-Large (4 positions), Arline Custer Award Committee (2 positions), Distinguished Service Award Committee (1 position), Finding Aids Award Committee (2 positions), Nominations and Elections Committee (3 positions), Scholarship Committee (2 positions).

The nomination form is open until December 1. The election will take place in January; those elected start their service on July 1, 2025.
