Founded in 1972, MARAC is a vibrant, volunteer-run organization welcoming archivists who live and work in the mid-Atlantic region, which includes Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

MARAC is focused on our members' needs and interests. We strive to provide MARAC members affordable archival education, encourage diversity and inclusion in the profession, foster collegiality among archivists, and support archival advocacy throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The Winter 2026 (Vol. 55, No. 1) issue of the Mid-Atlantic Archivist is now available!
Discover how traditional archival detective work was paired with AI to help identify photographs, and explore how moving images brought communities together for the first New Jersey Archival Film Festival. Other highlights in this issue include a look at the upcoming MARAC Spring Conference in Richmond, Virginia, advice from MARAC members for early-career archivists, and resources on AI, digital preservation, and the archival job market.

The form for membership year July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026 is available online at Membership 2025-2026. You may complete the form online and request an invoice to pay later via credit card or check. Download the membership form here if you prefer a paper form to mail in with a check. Dues are not pro-rated. Payments received in the 4th quarter (April 1 - June 30) will roll over to the next membership year.

Have an idea, concern, or proposal for MARAC?  Use this form to submit your comments to the Steering Committee. Submissions are discussed by Steering under New Business at the next scheduled committee meeting after the date of submission.
