MembershipMARAC is an association of individuals interested in the preservation and use of archival and historical research materials. Its mission is to assist and support the professional and volunteer archivists, manuscript curators, and records managers in obtaining continuing education, and to provide collegial networking opportunities. Nearly 1000 members, in seven states and the District of Columbia serve government agencies, academic institutions, churches, businesses, historical societies, libraries, museums, and professional associations. Benefits of membership include networking at regional conferences and state caucus events, special rates for conferences and professional development and continuing education workshops, eligibility for awards and scholarships, participation in mentorship circles, access to a directory of members, and the opportunity to serve on committees or run for an elected leadership position. Payments received in the 4th quarter (April 1 - June 30) will roll over to the next membership year. The current year's membership form is available online through this link or can be downloaded as a PDF here. Starting in July 2024, MARAC is pleased to provide a "Bridge" membership category. The Bridge rate is for anyone who self-identifies as an unemployed or underemployed archival worker. Based on the honor system, it will allow those members to temporarily pay the lower rate and benefit from access to educational programming and networking opportunities that can assist their professional situation. Caucus MembershipMARAC is divided into state caucuses, which provide opportunities for members to discuss, initiate action, and promote statewide archival needs, activities, and issues and to exchange information with local colleagues. All members may select one caucus as part of their membership and may choose to join additional caucuses for a nominal fee. Caucus members use e-lists to communicate.
